Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events.
  • Did Vocabulary #33. I am going to mark this soon, please have it up to date & handed in.
  • Did our High School Registration stuff. Are you all sorted out for next year?
  • Handed in our FRUIT LAB REPORTS.
  • Watched an electricity video from the UK National Geographic Show "What Would Happen If.......? So, is it a good idea to pee on an electric fence? Why or Why NOT?
  • We need to talk about our next POTENTIAL field trip. Remind me please.
  • Quiz on MONDAY: Vocabulary and Sections 1.0 & 2.0.
  • Did sia9 c&r p 305 #1-5. We did these as a class. You just had to write it up.
  • HOMEWORK: finish sia9 p295 #1-11. FORMAT IT PROPERLY.
  • There is a new seating plan. There are good reasons for seating plans. They are in place to facilitate your learning. Use them to your advantage.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events.
  • Did Vocabulary #32. You had time in class, how did you use it?
  • Talked about the information we have been reading. What is the difference between volts & amps?
  • Handed in our homework.
  • Did the quick lab on sia9 p290. What fruit or vegetable did you bring? They were worth marks!
  • For Thursday be prepared to hand in a formal lab write up that includes: Purpose/problem/question, hypothesis, materials, methods, observations, results, conclusions, and at least four possible sources of error. We discussed this in class today, there is also some information in the toolbox of your textbook.
  • Homework: Read & UNDERSTAND sia9 p298-310.

  • Talked about Circuits. Tried to build one. What VARIABLES can affect our ability to build a working circuit?
  • HOMEWORK: DO sia9 p283 #1-9. Read & UNDERSTAND: sia9 p284-294.
  • What is a volt? A millivolt?
  • Remember to bring a FRUIT or VEGETABLE & some spare change on TUESDAY.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did current events. You should have completed at LEAST one current event for this term.
  • Did Vocabulary #30. Did you alphabetize? Definition in your own words? Use the word correctly in a sentence? Include a picture?
  • Got alot of work back. Are you up to date? Is the work you are handing in your best effort?
  • Talked about STATIC electricity. What is it?
  • What are the sub-atomic particles that move?
  • Played with the van der Graaf Generater & wrote a journal entry. HOW DOES IT WORK? Why does it crackle? What are the sparks made of?
  • Watched the Brainiac Video - electric fence. What happens in this video?
  • Read & UNDERSTAND sia9 p272-283, omit p277. We have already talked about this content & done vocabulary related to it. You had 15 minutes of class time to do this.
  • HOMEWORK: do sia9 p278 #1-8. Remember to format your assignment properly. We have already answered most of these questions, if you have trouble with these questions you need to pay me a visit & get it sorted out.

  • Did not do vocabulary.....instead we used this time to study. Did you use it wisely?
  • Handed in our unit review.
  • Did our Unit Final for Matter & Chemical Change.
  • Read sia9 p360.
  • Started our title page for our Electricity Unit. Due Wednesday February 18. That is HEAPS of time!
  • So you want to do experiments. Well you know what has to happen.
  • You want to go on another field trip? You know what has to happen.
Over this little break I suggest you think about what it means to be an
INDEPENDENT LEARNER.

  • Did current events. New schedule. Enough said.
  • Vocabulary #29. What does that word squander mean?
  • Worked on our Unit Review. SIA9 p175-176 #1-17. Yes you need to write the question down. Don't forget to format your assignment properly.
  • Got a review quiz. Are you comfortable picking the best answer?
  • There was an additional reveiw booklet available if you wanted.
  • Do you understand the key concepts from this unit? The vocabulary? What could you tell me about them? You must use them all together to be successful.

  • Did vocabualary #28.
  • Did current events. Well tried to, no one was ready. You know, that "I forgot" line is really old. You HAVE the new schedule - use it.
  • Watched the end of our movie Erin Brockovich. What did you think?
  • Homework: Complete your Journal entry: 1) Summarize the movie, 2) what did you think about the movie. This should be put in your duotang at the begining of class on Thursday.
  • You have a Unit final on Monday. If I were you I would get myself sorted out and what I don't understand figured out and what I don't remember worked out.
