Today in SCIENCE we:

• Did current events - well done, it was a good article and there were good questions.
• Handed in Vocabulary #7, got vocabulary #8. Due WEDNESDAY.
• Got our safety tests back - if you got LESS THAN 40/50 you need to do your test corrections & write 3 paragraphs to demonstrate that you understand what lab safety is.
• Did the Acids and Bases Song!! Did you get all of the blank spaces filled in? That song can help you know and understand pH and acids and bases!
• Had a homework check - what do you need to do to get 10/10 on homework checks?
• Watched Planet Earth and did a journal entry about what makes a good/or healthy ecosystem. What does a healthy ecosystem look like? Do we have healthy ecosystems around Calgary? Due Wednesday.
• If you did not finish your homework, you need to get caught up. We will go over the check and reflects on Wednesday.

• Handed in vocabulary #6.
• Got vocabulary #7 - due Monday.
• Current Events - is it your turn on MONDAY? Check the schedule!! BE READY.
• Do sia9 p190 #1-11. You need to have a proper title, write the questions down & answer in complete sentences. Due Monday.
• TSQ4R sia9 p191-195, omit p192 & 194. Due Monday.
• Do sia9 p195 #1-7. Same format as before! Due Monday.
• Give it a try sia9 p196, you have done these definitions, this should not take you long. Due Monday.
• You had LOTS of class time to complete this work.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Ms. Wilson did an example presentation for current events. Check the schedule, is it your turn on MONDAY?
• Handed in vocabulary #5.
• Handed in our element paragraphs & squares for the periodic table.
• Got vocabulary #6, due Thursday.
• Did the give it a try activity on p183. JUST THE PART ABOUT FINDING THE NAME & Atomic Number OF THE ELEMENTS. You should have your chart complete for Thursday.
• Talked about TSQ4R - what is it? What do the letters stand for?
• Look at the key concepts and learning outcomes sections in your textbooks.
• Used the TSQ4R method to take notes on sia9 p180-190. Omit p181 & 189.
• Did you ask 5 good questions? Did you answer your questions? How many points of notes did you take?
• Are your notes properly labelled with a title (that includes page numbers), your name, class, and the date?

You had time to complete this work in class, did you use it?

• Got vocabulary #5 - Due Tuesday.
• Environmental Chemistry title page - Due Tuesday - follow the rubric.
• Reviewed and handed in our hypotheses, observations, & variables worksheets.
• Chose our element, did some research about it. Can you answer the who, what, why where, when and how about your element? What does it look like? What is it used for? What are the properties and characteristics of your element? Your paragraphs are due on TUESDAY.
• Did you make your "square" of our periodic table? It is due on TUESDAY.
• Is your vocabulary Duotang up to date? What about your Journal?

• Talked about the periodic table of elements & listened to a song. What trends do we see on the table? What information can we get from it?
• Which element would you like to be?? Choose an element for THURSDAY.
• Got a rubric for our Environmental Chemistry title page. FOLLOW this rubric when making your title page. DUE ON THURSDAY.
• Got vocabulary list #4 - due THURSDAY.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Watched a safety video.
• Did our lab safety quiz.
• Got our lab safety contract, to be brought back SIGNED on TUESDAY.
• Watched a video about rainbows & wrote a journal entry about "what kind of science" we saw in it. Your journal entry should be in your journal duotang.
• Got a worksheet on variables & observations - due TUESDAY.
• Watched a "rap" video about the Hadron Particle Smasher. Then we watched a National Geographic video about the smasher & the results of today's big experiment. What are they doing & why?
• Got 7 more vocabulary words, due TUESDAY. Don't forget you need to include the term, definition (in your own words), a picture, & a sentence that uses the term correctly.
• Did you put your last vocabulary assingment in your vocabulary duotang?

• Got a handout to help us practice hypotheses - Due Wednesday.
• Got 5 new vocabulary words to complete for Wednesday.

• Completed our RiverWach Journal Entry & put it in our duotangs.
• Took notes on HOW we were going to tackle our Vocabulary words.
• Your vocabulary example was: Independent Learner. You must include a definition in your own words, a picture, & use the word correctly in a sentence.
• Got 30 vocabulary words to define, due MONDAY.
• We reviewed the guidlines for current events.
• We chose a news article and worked on a practice write up. DUE MONDAY.
